Last year we launched our first-ever Relay 100 sponsored walk with a view to connecting each of the parishes in the Brentwood Diocese, to ensure families who needed us knew how to access our support and to spread the word about the work we do.
There was a very important fundraising aspect to our Relay 100 too following a year of lockdown, the cancellation of many events, challenges, and fundraising initiatives, and we were so grateful to our diocesan community who picked up the baton and went with it – literally.
We were delighted to have the support of our President, Bishop Alan who launched our Relay 100 last year and will do so again next month. Joining him throughout the summer months were many individuals and families, members of Knights of St Columba Councils and Catenian Circles, Catholic Women’s League members as well as former Directors, trustees, volunteers, staff members, and friends.
Our Relay journey will start again around Essex and East London in May and June this year in line with our original walks calendar, and we are looking for willing volunteers to walk, run or cycle a route for us. A good number of supporters have already signed up, and we would welcome support, especially in the Harlow and Ilford parishes but would be delighted to hear from you wherever you live!
Each of the 100 ‘legs’ or routes can be undertaken in family, friendship, parish, or community groups, and since covering almost 450 miles is a big undertaking for a small team, we will need your help to achieve it.
Your participation will help us to change young lives for the better at a time when our services are in greatest demand – we hope that you will consider helping us and thank you in advance for your support.
