Across the Diocese, parishes have come together this Lent to participate in the Lenten Giving Calendar 2025, a Caritas Diocese of Brentwood initiative encouraging parishioners to donate essential items to those in need. From UHT milk and cereal bars to soap, socks, and Easter treats, the response has been nothing short of inspiring.

Throughout Lent, parishioners of all ages have quietly and faithfully filled boxes and bags with donations—each item a small act of love. These donations are now being collected and distributed to local charities and foodbanks just in time for Holy Week.

One parishioner shared, “I am amazed—people are very generous.” And it’s true. From bustling towns to quiet rural parishes, communities have opened their hearts in support of others across Essex and East London.

This initiative serves as a powerful reminder that foodbanks exist to support anyone in need, regardless of circumstance. Your donations help ensure they can continue to provide not only emergency food parcels but also vital practical and emotional support to those going through difficult times.

As we enter this sacred week, let us pause and pray for all those who will be receiving these gifts—that they may feel seen, supported, and uplifted through the kindness of others.
